Dzham | Biography
Hailing from Moscow, Dzham is one of the biggest Hip Hop stars of the Eastern Bloc. After 4 albums released in his native tongue, he’s now got his sights set on the UK, Europe and the rest of the world – and will be loudly announcing his arrival with the tongue in cheek, self-explanatory track titled “Im From Russia.”
With a self-deprecating lyrical flow and highly amusing video, “I’m From Russia” is an introductory release that leaves little room for misunderstanding. Dzham is a Hip Hop artist who can and has covered serious subject matter, but as this release indicates he’s also fully prepared to have some fun.
Hailing from Smolensk in the Russian Federation, Dzham’s music tends to reflect both the good and bad sides of Russian way of life: dark suburbs and luxury clubs, family problems and criminal atmosphere in his hometown. All of this has influenced him to become a rap artist who’s poetry is based on the things that surround him every day, the life he knows. Across a highly successful career Dzham has consistently collaborated with the most famous Russian DJs and artists and is a permanent presence on MTV Russia.
2009 saw Dzham record a track and video with ONYX, a year later in 2010, Dzham starred and co- produced the World’s first 360 interactive music video for Pendulum ‘Salt in the wounds’. 2010 also saw the release of the mixtape with DJ Whoo Kid (50 Cent/ G- Unit), plus tracks with both Sway (video in top 20 street bangers on Channel U) and DJ Ironik ‘Slow down’ remix.
Dzham writes all his own lyrics and has worked with beat makers and producers from all over the world in the search for the perfect sound. Having already collaborated recently with UK Urban artists such as Sway (on Red Handed) and Ironik (on Slow Down), Dzham is no stranger to the UK Hip Hop scene. He has a collection of highly credible tracks that will make up his first English language album and has further collaborations in the pipeline with Timberland and Kardinal Offishall amongst others. In fact, Dzham has already worked with famous American producer Jim Beanz who produced “Every Day,” a track from the last album.
Dzham has marked the beginning of a new pan-European success story with his razor sharp wit, incredible on-stage presence and bilingual lyrical dexterity. His ambition over the next period of time is to become an internationally renowned Hip Hop artist, able to share his thoughts and his distinctive music with the rest of the world. The new album will be releasing in the second quarter of 2011, and will be the first step in accomplishing this goal. In combination with the up and coming prominence of Russia as a major force on the global horizon, Dzham will be unstoppable.
After his artist career has blossomed, Dzham plans to set up his own music company in Russia to exploit the market and its love of the Hip Hop genre.
